First Rector - Reverend Frederick T. Tiffany
Reverend Frederick T. Tiffany is listed as being an Episcopal Lay Reader in 1818, a Deacon in 1820 and ordained to the Priesthood in 1828. Prior to relocating to Kinderhook, he had an impressive career which included his election as Chaplain to the US Congress in 1842.
Starting in the autumn of 1850, before there was even a church or a formal organization, Reverend Tiffany met with others to worship. These brave souls later incorporated as “the Rector, Church Wardens and Vestrymen of Saint Paul’s Church”. After his leadership role in founding our church, Rev. Tiffany moved to Claverack to start Trinity Episcopal Church.
